Institute for Spirituality and Psychology Clinical Referral
About ISP

ISP’s mission is to ease suffering, promote peace and support spiritual awakening by bringing together the wisdom traditions of spirituality and psychology.

ISP's mission is to ease suffering, promote peace and support spiritual awakening.Historically, a rift has existed between spiritual and psychological approaches to transformation. The dominant theories and practices in psychology have pathologized or ignored spiritual practices and experiences, despite strong evidence that spirituality is important to health and well-being.

Research has made it increasingly clear that effective psychotherapy needs to encompass the spiritual dimensions of human beings. Likewise, programs that promote spiritual seeking and growth generally do not offer or promote psychological support, despite demonstrated clinical need.

ISP believes that everyone benefits from integrating the spiritual and psychological realms. To this end, ISP offers resources in four areas: Education, Clinical Referrals, Information Resources and Research.

ISP is an ecumenical non-profit organization composed of spiritual teachers and practitioners, as well as psychological and medical clinicians and researchers. ISP is tax-exempt under California and Federal Law. Donations are used to support research, clinical work, education and information resources and are tax-deductible.
