Therapist Directory

The Institute for Spirituality and Psychology (ISP) has created a Therapist Directory of highly qualified Bay Area clinicians to serve those who would benefit from spiritually-informed psychotherapy.

Our Directory of therapists represents a wide range of spiritual backgrounds and training. as well as a variety of therapeutic approaches. Although the Directory is a good resource for anyone interested in spiritually-informed psychotherapy, our listed clinicians are especially well qualified to provide therapy for the following groups:

  • Clients actively engaged in a spiritual practice who wish to explore their experience in the context of psychotherapy with a spiritually-oriented psychotherapist;
  • Clients who are in the midst of a psychological crisis with spiritual components;
  • Experienced spiritual practitioners who have had a significant spiritual opening and are seeking help to integrate their new experience and understanding into their daily lives, and,
  • Anyone in the midst of any kind of spiritual crisis or emergency.

Each clinician in the Therapist Directory has been interviewed by two senior clinicians, using a. set of criteria and competencies designed to identify appropriate clinicians for inclusion in our Directory. These criteria can be viewed on our website.

Clinicians on our Therapist Directory will attend bi-annual consultation groups led by senior clinicians. Consultation groups will focus on clinical cases involving spiritual issues such as those mentioned above. CEUs will be offered for attendance at these consultation groups.
Our long range plans include:

  • A training program for clinicians wishing to develop their skills and competencies for working with spiritual/religious issues in therapy,
  • A clinic providing  spiritually oriented psychotherapy on a sliding scale as well as internship opportunities for clinicians-in-training, and
  • Clinical research in the area of spiritually oriented psychotherapy.
